Please note that not all resorts are served by all flights. In accordance with EU Directive -(EC) No.2111/2005, Article 9, we are required to bring to your attention the existence of a 'Community list' which contains details of air carriers that are subject to an opening ban within the EU Community. The Community list is available for inspection at http://europa.eu.int/comm/transport/air/safety/flywell_en.htm
For holidays operating on scheduled flights, prices are based on a contracted airfare as provided to us by the scheduled airlines. At certain times it may be that the contracted airfare is not available. In such cases we may be obliged to quote you a holiday price higher than that which is published, which will be an airfare available which is closest to our contracted rate. We will always strive to avoid such situations, but in some cases this may be unavoidable.
Flying Times: Flying times from London are approximate. These may vary considerably depending on flight schedules, type of aircraft and prevailing weather conditions, and are given for guidance only. The flying hours is the approximate time spent in the air.
Weekend Flights: When it comes to your flights, we like to give you as much choice and flexibility as possible. For added convenience, many of our featured flight depart on a Saturday, Sunday or Monday - particularly suitbale for those jetting off on honeymoon.
DEEP VEIN THROMBOSIS
Lengthy periods of immobility can increase the risk of Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT), but there are simple steps that you can take to reduce susceptibility. Take plenty of non-alcoholic drinks; get up and move about whenever possible, do some simple foot and leg exercises. Your airline may demonstrate the type of exercise or get yourself a copy of “Health Advice for Travellers” free by calling 0800 555 777. Also see the DoH website www.dh.gov.uk/hat, or pages 460-464 on CEEFAX.
PREGNANCY
Airline Regulations state that women 28 weeks or more into pregnancy, at the time of return travel, must have a medical certificate of fitness to travel. Normally after 32 weeks permission to travel is refused.
NO SMOKING
ALL airlines operate a no smoking policy.
CHECK-IN
Avoid big queues at the airport and get to the check-in on time. Better still pre-book your seats. You must get to the airport at least 2-3 hours before your flight is due to leave. If you don’t, the airline could refuse to take you, in which case you will have to pay for another flight.
BAGGAGE
Your baggage allowance on most major charter airlines is generally 44lbs (20 kilos) per person (30 kgs for Monarch Plus and Premium Cabin passengers) except children under 2 who have no allowance. You may not combine your allowance with others in your party and take a single piece of luggage over this allowance. Scheduled Airlines and “Low Cost” airlines have varying baggage allowances, and there is an increasing trend to reduce the free baggage allowance, and charge for any excess. Excess Baggage charges can be punitive. If you go over this amount the airline may refuse to carry it or charge you an ’excess baggage’ fee. Normally special items such as wheelchairs, pushchairs, surfboards etc, can be carried but you should check direct with your airline before travel. It’s possible that local contractors may charge an excess fee for carriage of windsurf/surf equipment and golf clubs on transfer
coaches.
Golf Clubs: Monarch Airlines charge £20 per set for both half and full sets of clubs on a round trip and £15 one-way. You may now pre-book the carriage of clubs with Monarch Customer Services and will be sent a letter of confirmation. Passengers who have not pre-booked will only be allowed to carry clubs on payment of the above fees at the check-in desk. Other airlines may differ and carriage is subject to their conditions at time of travel - please check with them before departure or call us on 0871 622 4254.
Airlines also have strict rules on carrying certain items in baggage - details will be sent with your travel documents. Also see X-RAY below.
X-RAY
All baggage will be x-rayed at airports, so if you have any odd shaped items, scissors, penknives or toy guns for example, or any sharp objects such as darts or metal nail files, expect to have your bag examined and those items confiscated. Films and camera equipment is safe in hand luggage, but not in the bags you check in to the hold.
