One of the best reasons for me loving Majorca is its diversity; there really is something for everyone, every mood, every month of the year.

As it's just a short flight from the UK, I have enjoyed many a weekend break on this gorgeous island. Some of the most memorable have been in the capital Palma. It's a vibrant and cosmopolitan city in every way, with its beautiful gothic cathedral, art museums, and stunning port with the largest yachts you will have ever seen. For out of this world shopping, I love to wander along Jaime III where some of the exclusive boutiques only allow for a peek in the window, but there are many great shops I can afford to go in and browse, which I then like to follow with a relaxing long lunch, recovering from the damage I might have done…

For a different weekend away, nearby Magaluf is where I have spent many a night out with the girls, dancing the night away in the numerous pubs and clubs - it is renowned for them and they cater for all tastes it seems, and we always had great fun. Although the night is wild the beaches in the area of Magaluf and Palma Nova have all been awarded European Blue Flag Awards, so you can go in the day and know you'll be sunbathing on good clean sand, untainted by the crazy night activities.

Once away from the hustle bustle of the city and the nightlife of Magaluf however, I find there is nothing better than a trip to the Tramuntana mountain range, that leads from Andratx to the North of the island in Alcudia. A Sunday afternoon drive through the winding roads to Soller where the best Pa amb Oli is served, my favourite Majorcan speciality with stone-baked bread, rubbed with fresh garlic and locally grown vine tomatoes, smothered in olive oil, delicious by itself or accompanied with ham and cheese and a sneaky glass of vino tinto.
