Mahon : Holiday Accommodation

Mahon has long been one of the jewels of the Mediterranean. On Menorca's east coast, the island's capital is a charming cliff top town perched above one of the largest and most magnificent natural harbours in the world. Because of its strategic location, it has had many foreign occupiers over the years, including the British (Nelson's fleet once moored here), leaving a fascinating legacy of architectural delights and historical curios.

A holiday to Mahon is relaxing by day and buzzing by night. The bars and restaurants along the harbour front only really come alive at night. It is all too easy to spend many hours eyeing the huge yachts, admiring the sunset, or just drinking in the atmosphere. If you are lucky enough to book a Mahon holiday at the start of September, the Fiestas de la Mare de Deu de Garcia showcases a dazzling display of horsemanship. And no guide to Mahon would be complete without mentioning that it is allegedly the town famed for inventing, and naming, mayonnaise.
