Older and more upmarket than neighbouring windsurfing hotspot Bahia Feliz, San Agustin was the first resort to be established on Gran Canaria in the 1970s; even before Playa del Ingles and Maspalomas. Boasting an unrushed lifestyle, a cheap holiday to San Agustin is perfect for those wanting to flop on a sun lounger, while enjoying all the benefits of a good holiday spot. A Gran Canaria resort with character, San Agustin has a large choice of accommodation and various commercial centres offering numerous shops, restaurants and bars.
Nicely sheltered and fringed with shops and restaurants along the seafront, San Agustin’s fabulous black sand beach is ideal for family sunbathing. But although its peacefulness may make it the ideal place to unwind, that doesn’t mean a San Agustin holiday lacks action. The waters are excellent for swimming, snorkelling and paddling and the resort’s shops and restaurants ensure that it has its fair share of local amenities. The after dark atmosphere usually remains sedate, but San Agustin does have a few bars, giving you the opportunity to up the pace if you wish to do so.
