The easternmost island of the Canaries, Lanzarote, offers gorgeous, if occasionally harsh, landscapes, pristine sandy beaches and a number of activities for visitors to enjoy. Lanzarote holidays deliver buckets of sunshine, a captivating natural history and world class resorts scattered along the breath-taking coastline. Lanzarote prides itself on its consciousness of the environmental impact of its bustling tourism industry. That is one of the main reason why the skyline is still “old worldly” without any skyscrapers or high-rise apartment buildings. There are a number of world-class resorts on the island, including Puerto Del Carmen and Puerto Calero which is located on the southwest coastline of Lanzarote.
Reasons to visit
The island offers a wide range of activities and entertainment for visitors to enjoy and many of them revolve around the island’s unique landscape. Surrounded by lava-baked hills, desert terrain and memorable volcanic landscapes, a Lanzarote holiday is a source of inspiration for many artists, writers and normal tourists alike. For watersports alone the island is unrivalled by any other, except maybe neighbouring Tenerife. Costa Teguise is another good reason to spend time in Lanzarote, as it’s a modern, fun and literally a stone’s throw away from one of the island’s best beaches. It is also home to the island’s only golf course, a sports centre and a waterpark for the kids; a cheap Lanzarote holiday is truly wonderful all round family holiday idea.
Things to see and do
From wildlife park to museums and of course, the natural landscapes, a cheap Lanzarote holiday has it all. Visit the Guinate Tropical Park & Penguin Paradise with the kids. For those interested in the history of the region, the Castillo de San Gabriel in Arrecife is a fantastic 16th century fortress that overlooks the Arrecife harbour. Another notable attraction is the Cave of Los Verdes which was formed by underground lava flows. Wine lovers rejoice, because the Wine Museum of Lanzarote is located at El Grifo Wineries and were built on top of the volcanic rock left behind after the big 18th century eruption.
One of the best destinations for families, possibly anywhere on the Canary Islands, is Timanfaya National Park. It provides a rare glimpse into the volcanic world. In the park a 45 minute bus ride is all you need to see active geysers. The steam rises from the active volcano and you can even take a camel ride if you like! All in all, a great day out. We also offer a large range of all inclusive holidays which are perfect for family holidays and help you watch those pennies whilst you're away
