Tenerife is the biggest and most populous of the Canary Islands and almost five million tourists visit the island every year. This is mostly due to the phenomenal weather, friendly locals, and unique mix of activities and entertainment on offer. For holiday seekers looking to mingle and enjoy a cheap Tenerife holiday, the south of the island is where you should be going. The days are hotter, the air drier and the resorts on offer are some of the best in the world.
Reasons to visit
The idyllic and luxurious south offers a unique resort holiday to visitors, but the north is not to be forgotten on your trip to Tenerife. The island is greener in the north and Puerto de la Cruz is the main destination in the region. Its unique blend of old-harbour town quaintness and northern European influences makes it an extremely relaxing, yet modern destination for your holiday to Tenerife. Loro Parque is a fantastic bird park that showcases hundreds of gorgeous tropical birds and it’s the perfect day out for the family. The Masca Valley is another great reason to visit the island is the Masca Valley and nearby Mount Teide. Mount Teide is the highest mountain in Spain and the Masca Valley provides some of the best hiking and views you could possibly imagine, a must for outdoor enthusiasts.
Things to see and do
Arguably the biggest tourist attraction to look forward to on a package holiday to Tenerife is the Carnival of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. It is one of the biggest and brightest carnivals in the world and completely transforms the island’s capital, Santa Cruz de Tenerife. The parties in the streets start on the Friday before Carnival with a fantastic opening parade which draws thousands of dressed up revellers to fancy dress and staying up until the early hours of Saturday morning. The party lasts until Ash Wednesday when “entierro de la sardina” (burial of the sardine) is celebrated. The town quiets down again for a day or two before “Piñata” begins the following weekend. Don't forget to go to the Siam Water Park, well worth a visit.
Lago Martianez is one of the best family attractions on the island and for good reason. The natural water playground, designed by Cesar Manrique of the Canary Islands, offers numerous salt water pools with pebbles bottoms, making it ideal for the kids to cool down in. There are also numerous waterparks on the island such as Siam Park in Playa de las Americas or Aqualand in Costa Adeje to keep the kids entertained on your family holidays. We also offer a large range of all inclusive holidays which are perfect for family holidays and help you watch those pennies whilst you're away.
The Canary Islands are a popular holiday destination because of the region’s wonderfully sunny climate. Temperatures seldom drop below 19°C in the day and average between 23°C and 26°C in the summer, making a holiday to Tenerife perfect for your next summer holiday.
