Jamaica is an ideal tropical paradise that literally has something for everyone, and is so versatile in what it offers. It always guarantees tropical weather, nothing is ever a problem, it has a wonderful slower pace of life and the best supply of rum!

All the areas of the island are unique in their own right and it's hard to have favourites, but when I want local cuisine I head down to the city of Montego Bay and ask for the famous Ackee and Salt fish the national dish of the island or, if I feel more daring, I'll go for the famous Jerk chicken (very hot) though my favourite is the pork, with a glass of rum of course! I love this area of the island as it's got magnificent beaches that are just a stones throw from bars serving some of the best cocktails, and evenings come alive as the nightlife begins, so be sure to practice your limbo for the night ahead!

For the quieter romantic, head to Negril, famous for the seven-mile stretch of beach (the longest on the island) with lots of restaurants serving fresh seafood along the beach. One of my 'must eats' is the lobster and famous Jack fish - I love the way they roast the fish on an open fire for you to watch, show cooking at its best I say! I'm drawn partly by the food and partly by the magnificent sunset, which I gets me every time I see it, it's just breathtaking.

As a coffee lover, a trip to Blue Mountain where the coffee is produced is a must, and there's no need to be told when you're nearly there, you can smell the coffee roasting. My handy hint though is to take a light jacket as the temperature does drop up there and it can get quite chilly. A highlight for me as well as exploring the mountains, is climbing the famously iconic Dunn's River Falls, a 180-metre high waterfall with giant rock formed steps to the top, and always stopping for a well-deserved break with a dip in the lagoon half way up - a good old muscle soak and so refreshing!
