Negril : Holiday Accommodation

Discovered in the early seventies by hippies and flower children, Negril’s laid-back lifestyle and the warmth and gentleness of its people were what made it so initially appealing. As the resort’s fame began to spread, more people started booking holidays to Negril, prompting development to go beyond hammocks and palm-thatched huts and suddenly luxury hotels began to spring up. But don’t worry, the resort’s carefree, unhurried atmosphere lingers on today, and with friendships arising between visitors and locals, Negril is the ideal place to meet Jamaicans on their own turf.

A selection of low-rise hotels are widely spread along the resort’s long glorious stretch of beach, which ends in cliffs and caves that are great for diving and snorkelling. As well as having shopping plazas in the centre of the resort, two craft markets and a selection of bars and restaurants, Negril’s location on the west coast of Jamaica means it is ideally placed to admire the setting sun.
