Once a quaint fishing village, Los Cristianos has developed into one of Tenerife's favourite holiday haunts with relaxed, cosmopolitan atmosphere. Especially popular with families, it still retains elements of its old-world charm. Next door, there's a sheltered crescent of sandy beach lined with numerous pavement cafes and bars, plus a pedestrianised centre where you can browse through the shops and weekly market. There's also a golf course nearby. The resort's harbour area, with its excellent seafood restaurants and array of boat excursions, is another hub of activity. From here, you can join dolphin and whale-watching cruises or just take a boat trip to enjoy the sun and sea. A few lively music bars provide most of the night-life, but if you do hanker after headier stuff, Playa de las Americas is just a short taxi ride away.
