This characterful place will seem like heaven if you want to combine doing everything with, well, doing nothing. Having blossomed from an old fishing harbour, it has more than its fair share of historic nooks and crannies to explore, a pleasant black sand beach to laze on, and an enormous array of shops to browse around. There's an excellent lido too, plus for a really sedate couple of hours, you can stroll around the famous Botanical Gardens, ablaze with exotic plants. There are also numerous opportunities to take it easy over a drink or a good meal, especially in the fine fish restaurants and friendly bars around the harbourside and old village square. And at night, it's really up to you: either linger over a romantic supper or make a night of it at Puerto's upbeat array of clubs and discos.
