Beaches
The Istrian Riviera is sprinkled with sandy beaches. Green Lagoon, about 3 km from Porec and Red Island just off the coast of Rovinj are good examples. Novigrad has countless pebble beaches and lagoons along the coast.
Pula
Situated on the southern tip of the Istrian peninsula, this attractive town has Roman origins and makes an ideal trip for culture-vultures and history lovers. Your first stop has to be the magnificent Roman amphitheatre - a vast, three-storey edifice built in the 1st century BC. There's also a string of other historic monuments to see, including an imposing columned Roman temple, fortress and archeological museum.
