A very small resort Altura lies between the lovely Manta Rota and Praia Verde beaches at the eastern end of the Algarve. There is a modest choice of bars and eating spots but the main theme here is relaxation. Monte Gordo to the east can be reached by bus, or you could visit attractive Vila Real de San Antonio and try a day trip to Spain, crossing the river by boat.
