Citrus and olive groves, flower-filled orchards and two exquisite sandy bays: they are all to be found in Hammamet, known as Tunisia's garden resort. If you're not soaking up the sun at one of the spectacular beaches, you'll discover plenty of things to see and do - from the 15th century kabash that juts dramatically out into the bay to the old walled medina at the foot of the kabash, squeezed to the brim with shops selling everything from carpets to the local jangling brassware. More shops are concentrated in Hammamet's busy bazaars and if you need a break, there are numerous cafe-bars and restaurants to sample. At night, the resort's hotels lead the night-time activities with colourful floor shows and entertainment, although a few discos, clubs and casinos can be found in the town centre. Golf fanatics should head to Hammamet's two 18-hole golf courses 'Yasmine' and the 'Citrus', and there's excellent tennis and watersports at the beach.
