Tunisia - Sousse holidays
introduction to Sousse
Sensational golden beaches ideal for sunbathing and gentle watersports, lots of modern attractions, old Tunisian charm and historical interest: Sousse has it all. When you're not sunning yourself or taking a camel ride at a nearby stable or farm, a variety of activities await - from a tour of the imposing monastery fortress to a few hours' shopping at a delightful souk that quite literally glitters with gold. There are plenty of pavement restaurants, bars and cafes, so make sure you sample a Tunisian speciality like a plate of cous-cous topped with fresh lamb or fish. Around the Medina is the modern town with its thriving port, shops and restaurants, and on Sundays an open-air market. In August, the town comes alive with festival parades along the waterfront. If you fancy getting out there's an array of day trips to enjoy - to the nearby holy city of Kairouan or the famous Roman ruins at El Jem.
Journey Times: Airports, Tunis - 2 hours approx.
