To fully discover the wonders of Egypt, then a Nile cruise is the perfect choice of holiday, as most of the ancient sites are on or near to the banks of the river. You don't have to be an avid fan of Egyptology though to enjoy this holiday, as even a novice will be in awe of all the fascinating sites. Once you board ship you can relax and let the staff and professional guides take care of everything for you - you're definitely in good, experienced hands!

Our floating home for the next 7 days was well equipped with all the things we needed. There's a swimming pool and sun deck to enjoy whilst sailing in the afternoons and wow, what an ever-changing view! When we wanted to escape the blazing sun, there's plenty of shade too, so we didn't miss thousands of years of culture pass by. It's not just our sense of sight that we needed here, as we could always hear the hum of the evening prayers as we passed by local mosques - it's one of the moments I'll never forget! We also enjoyed browsing in the shops on board and sharing our day with friends back home using the internet service, and sometimes, we just crashed in our air-conditioned cabin which even had a panoramic window.

The restaurant serves buffet-style meals, and we found there was always something to eat even if you are a little fussy when it comes to food.

If you like a holiday with a lie in, this isn't the one for you. We were off the boat by 7am every day to start exploring and beat the heat. Our guide gave all the narrative we needed, which is great as we didn't do any 'homework' before we left. The morning is taken up seeing the sights, though we also found time for bartering with shopkeepers and stall holders for our essential holiday souvenirs! Then it was back on board for lunch and an ice cold drink or two and a relaxing afternoon. Evenings were generally low key, occasional entertainment is provided, so grab yourself a Galabeyah in the market and join in!

This is a fantastic experience and has given me wonderful memories.
