To me, Egypt is an excellent holiday destination, and Sharm El Sheikh is one of my favourite places, as it has an interest for all ages - lovely restaurants, nightclubs, bars, an old market and of course fabulous diving and snorkelling sites.

I prefer to stay in the Nabq Bay area, as along with plenty of shops, a few bars and restaurants, it has a wonderful promenade connecting the main beachfront line of hotels, so if you love walking, this makes a beautiful evening stroll. Although most of the hotels here have lovely beaches, most have jetties to swim off, as there are lots of corals which stop you walking directly into the sea from the hotel beach.

I take the shuttle bus into Naama bay as this is the main place in Sharm, with plenty of restaurants, bars, nightclubs and shops to choose from. It also has a smaller seafront promenade, where you'll find some lovely restaurants, all connected to the hotels, but open to everyone.

If you like authenticity there are some outdoor bars where you can sit on mats and smoke a sheesha pipe; apple is the main flavour most people are given but there are plenty of others to try. I brought a small one which came in a beautiful bag to take home, just to keep as an ornament.

I love eating fish and the best restaurants I have found in Sharm are in the old market place, which is fascinating to stroll around. I love watching traders selling their goods, and with so many shops to explore and locals to chat to, it's such a great experience. I find bartering great fun so had a fabulous time, then topped off the evening by choosing a lovely fish restaurant for a leisurely meal.

I love diving and Sharm has more dive sites than I can shake a stick at, which is one of the reasons I keep coming back. My must see underwater tips are the 'Thistlegorm' - a site for wreck enthusiasts - sunk in 1941 she still has her cargo of locomotives, motorbikes, trucks and aircraft parts, and the coral reefs off Tiran Island and Ras Mohamed, which are a fish lover's paradise.
