EXPERIENCE: Sri Lanka - Tours - Splendours of Ceylon

Day 1. UK - Sri Lanka.

Fly UK to Sri Lanka.

Day 2. Arrive Colombo.

You will be met at the airport and taken to the Colombo Holiday Inn. Take an afternoon tour of the city. Overnight in Colombo. (D)

Day 3. Colombo - Sigiriya.

Travel to Sigiriya for a two-night stay and enjoy an Elephant ride safari on arrival. (B,L,D)

Day 4. Sigiriya - Polonnaruwa - Sigiriya.

Visit Sigiriya's Rock Fortress rising 200m above the green forests. Climb to the top and along the way you will see frescoes in the rock wall and breathtaking views of the Sri Lankan countryside. Afternoon visit to Polonnaruwa. Overnight in Sigiriya Village Hotel. (B,L,D)

Day 5. Sigiriya - Kandy.

Morning visit to Dambulla Rock Cave Temple en route to Kandy. Two night stay at Mahaweli Reach Hotel. (B,L,D)

Day 6. Kandy - Pinnawela - Kandy.

In the morning visit the elephant orphanage at Pinnawela. Afternoon full city tour and visit to the Botanical Gardens and the Temple of the Tooth, housing the golden casket said to enshrine the tooth of Buddha. (B,L,D)

Day 7. Kandy - Nuwara Eliya.

A superb scenic drive up to 2,000m above sea level. Nuwara Eliya was designed by British tea planters to resemble an English village. Overnight in the old colonial-style St Andrew's Hotel. (B,L,D)

Day 8. Nuwara Eliya - beach resort.

Depart for Kitulgala along one of Sri Lanka's most scenic roads passing the St Clare and Devon waterfalls. Lunch is taken in Kitugala overlooking the site used for the filming of Bridge Over the River Kwai. Continue to your beach resort, journey times vary depending on your chosen hotel and may take up to 4 hours. Negombo, Waikkal and Kalutara hotels have a shorter journey time. (B,L)

If travelling to the Maldives, you will spend an extra night in Sri Lanka are at the Holiday Inn Colombo before transferring to the airport for your flight to the Maldives, the following day.

Days 9-13. At your beach resort.

You may decide to extend your beach stay by an extra week either in Sri Lanka or in the Maldives.

Day 14. Sri Lanka - UK.

Late night transfer to the airport for your return flight to the UK.

If travelling to the Maldives you will spend days 9-15 at your chosen resort island before transferring to the airport for your return flight to the UK on day 16.
