Florida has long been known as America’s playground, and remains the perfect holiday destination for children and adults alike. From the theme parks to the fabulous beaches around its 1800 miles of coastline, Florida holidays really do have something for everyone.
Reasons to visit
With so many reasons why Florida makes such a great holiday destination, it would be impossible to list every one! Cost is an important factor. The British pound generally holds a pretty solid exchange rate against the US dollar, so there’s good value for money on top American brands while Stateside. The climate is another, and matches the picture perfect scenery.
Things to see and do
Florida offers plenty of sights and activities to keep visitors of all ages happy and entertained. The Hispanic and Latin-fuelled culture of Miami is certainly worth indulging in, along with a visit to its beaches and art-deco architecture. There’s also the ability to enjoy the incredible natural beauty of the area with trips into the Everglades, one of the most famous natural parks in the world. Animal enthusiasts can swim with dolphins at Discovery Cove, and golfers can take on one of the area’s many high-quality courses.
Top of the list for children’s activities when on holiday in Florida are obviously the theme parks. If you’re travelling with children – or want to embrace your own inner child – there’s nothing like a visit to Disney World in Orlando. There’s also SeaWorld in Orlando, and Busch Gardens in Tampa Bay!
Florida is nicknamed the Sunshine State for good reason! It receives between 2,800 and 3,200 hours of sunshine annually, and is the warmest state in the US, with an average daily temperature of 21.5°C. Average high temperatures for late July are mostly between 32 and 34°C.
