Picturesque Baga is one of the most popular package holidays in north Goa and the original 1960s hippy hang out. It offers miles of golden sand and still maintains a busy and buzzing vibe today. Baga is known for its popular beach with is brown sands and is visited by thousands of tourists annually. Baga Beach is located 10 miles from Panaji, the state capital of Goa. It's bordered by Calangute Beach to the South, and Anjuna Beach to the north on the other side of the river. Baga Beach starts right where Calangute ends. Baga is the perfect getaway for those looking for a little bit of peace and quiet compared to the activity of the other two beaches.
Baga is a fishing beach that sees a lot of international tourists sunbathing in its golden sun, as a grove of palms gently sways in the wind. The Baga river flows along one side of the beach, offering a good alternative for children and those who are not too confident about swimming in the sea. On one of the far ends of the beach, lies a group of black rocks against which the sea crashes in dramatic explosions of spray.
