This bustling village resort is one of the most popular and well-known places to enjoy a cheap holiday in North Goa. Calangute has a huge array of activities on offer, and in the peak months of December to February you’ll find a wide variety of visitors including families, couples and young groups alike all enjoying this lively resort. For those who wish to relax, the golden sands and warm waters are a perfect setting for laidback days sunbathing and people watching. Adjacent to the more bustling resort of Baga, Calungate is the perfect tourist haven, with shacks and stalls under the shade of palm trees, selling everything from fried prawns and beer to ornaments made of seashells.
If you love holidaying amid the hustle and bustle you won’t be disappointed with a Calangute holiday; you’ll find roads filled with cars, buses, scooters and cows, and vibrant beaches full of atmosphere in this stimulating resort. Calangute has plenty of restaurants and cafes where you can try excellent fresh fish and traditional Goan curries. If you want to travel further afield, Calangute is close to the quieter resort of Candolim. You can also visit the weekly market at Anjuna where you’ll find cheap local crafts, jewellery, incense and spices at bargain prices.
