This is the ultimate package tour to South west India: serious sightseeing plus serious rest and relaxation. With our Tour & Stay options you can enjoy the local culture and sights before chilling out on the beach, meaning you really experience your destination rather than just visiting it briefly. Our Essences of Kerela tour takes in many of South India’s most impressive and astonishing sights - giving you a true taste of this exceptional region. Highlights include: Periyar National Park & Tiger Reserve, the Vembanad Lake and Kumarakom Islands, travelling and staying on a traditional House Boat and the beautiful City of Cochin.
On the first day of your tour you’ll fly into Central Goa where you’ll spend a day and night of relaxation in one of the region’s superior hotels. After a transfer via Bangalore, you will arrive in the charming city of Cochin, which is situated in the breathtakingly scenic state of Kerala, hailed as 'God's Own Country'. Cochin is a vibrant city situated on the South West coast of the Indian peninsula where you’ll have the rest of the day to spend at leisure. In the evening you can enjoy a traditional Kerala dance drama called Kathakali.
On the following day of your fantastic tour of Kerela you’ll visit one of the oldest wildlife sanctuaries in India; Peritar National Park and Tiger Reserve. Rated as one of the best wildlife sanctuaries in India for wildlife photography, bird watching, elephant herds and tiger watching, some of the other animals commonly found at Peritar National Park include monkeys, sambar and deer. There are also over a 100 species of butterfly and at least 240 bird species that inhabit the area.
The next three days of your trip will be spent enjoying the other delights on offer at Thekkady including boating at the National Park and a drive to Kumarakom in the Kuttanad region. Kumarakom is an unbelievably beautiful paradise of mangrove forests, emerald green paddy fields and coconut groves interspersed with enchanting waterways and canals adorned with white lilies. On day seven of the tour, enjoy a cruise along the palm-fringed waterways of Kerela in a luxury houseboat or ‘kettuvallom’ as it is traditionally known. You’ll skim past coir villages, rustic homes, temples and coconut groves.
The next day sees a return to the City of Cochin and an afternoon visiting the major attractions on offer in this lovely seaside city including the Jewish Synagogue, the Dutch Palace, Fort Kochi, St Francis Church, Dutch cemetery, Santa Cruz Basilica and the Chinese Nets.
After an early breakfast, you’ll fly back to Goa from Cochin to your chosen beach resort where you’ll spend the next week enjoying the scenic beauty of the region comprising of the ubiquitous coconut palms, vast stretches of sand and the wonderful sunsets.
