To me Kos is one of the most beautiful holiday destinations for all ages; it has so many different and wonderful things to offer, from beautiful beaches to historic sites.

Kos Town is one of the most popular resorts and definitely my favourite, as not only is it the capital, but it is also centrally located, meaning you can easily explore the rest of the island from here. I absolutely love the spectacular harbour and marina where all sorts of boats, ships, yachts and ferries dock every day, and where in July and August, you stand the best chance of spotting the celebrities who are cruising the Aegean on their holidays. Kos Town is also where you will find all of the shops, bars and restaurants… combine all three together and you get my ideal day out……..!

During July and August, Kardamena has to be the busiest resort, as it is the party capital and has a very lively atmosphere. It has all kinds of bars from Karaoke to classy cocktail bars and full-blown nightclubs, and is quickly taking over from Faliraki and Malia as the Greek party capital, so if you are still young and lively(!) this is definitely the resort to head for.

Kos is a perfect island to hire a car and explore at leisure as you can drive a full circle around it in a day, but for me, my idea of a holiday is to relax and soak in the views without any worries, so I choose an organised island tour or jeep safari which are both fantastic and very informative, and someone else does the driving. Somewhere I do make sure I go is paradise beach which is as it states….. Paradise. Here you can have a dip in the natural hot springs, so it's just like having a bubble bath, lovely!

One last thing about Kos - and not everyone knows this - is just how close it is to Turkey. From Kos Town, you can actually see the houses as well as cars driving around Bodrum. I think it is well worth a day trip.
