No two Greek islands are the same and Rhodes certainly underlines this point! Where else can you get history, sunshine, nightlife and the chance to visit another country all in one day?

Whenever I get the opportunity to visit, one of my first stops is Rhodes town itself. The best time to visit in my opinion, is late afternoon and evening. I always head to the old medieval walled town which still retains a huge amount of character, with its narrow cobblestoned streets and quaint squares. If it's shopping you're after then the jewellery shops are a must, but if it's something more social then the bars and restaurants are superb. From traditional Greek seafood restaurants to Moroccan, there is something for everyone. What's for sure is that you'll be spoilt for choice and have a great evening!

Right at the other end of the island is Lindos, and if you're not staying here then you must rent a car or get on an excursion to see it. On a smaller scale to Rhodes town, the largely pedestrianised old town is built on a steep incline overlooking a beautiful bay. Take in a different time and culture as you find yourself sharing the narrow streets with donkeys going about their daily business. Rooftop restaurants give you a great chance to recharge your batteries.

Talking of recharging, you'll certainly need to if you head to the middle of the island and visit or stay in Faliraki! Back in my younger days (and still today if I'm feeling energetic enough…) this is the place to be with back-to-back bars and clubs for the evening, as well as a great beach with a brilliant atmosphere during the day. Stock up on a 'full English', enjoy an ice cold drink and make the most of the party capital of Rhodes!

Whatever you decide to do on Rhodes you can be sure of one thing, and that's a warm welcome with a never-ending list of places and things to do that will keep you coming back time after time.
