Verona is one of the most famous and popular destinations in northern Italy and is steeped in history and much loved for its opera. Because of its many ancient Roman monuments it has been granted status as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Some of its many most popular attractions include the Verona arena, a Roman amphitheatre completed around 30 AD and now the setting for the yearly Verona Opera Festival. Another must see is Juliet's balcony, from Romeo and Juliet. Juliet's 13th century house is in a courtyard off Via Capello and is a good example of Gothic architecture.
