An extensive seven night tour combining amazing National Parks and awe-inspiring lakes, set in the stunning surroundings of the Great Rift Valley area. Your overnight accommodation is within a wonderful array of luxurious and unique safari lodges.

The Big Five Safari Itinerary

Day 1

UK - Nairobi.

Depart the UK on an overnight flight to Nairobi.

Day 2

Arrive Nairobi.

On arrival transfer to the Somak Safari Lounge, where you can freshen up and store any additional luggage before departing to your hotel on the outskirts of Aberdare for an overnight stay (165kms - approx 3hours). You will arrive in the afternoon and the rest of the day is at leisure.

Meals Included: Dinner

Day 3

Samburu Game Reserve.

Enjoy a nutritious breakfast before departing to the Samburu Game Reserve - a rugged and dry area set on the edges of the north frontier (185kms - 4 hours). After lunch, your game drive in this amazing terrain provides you with the chance to see a wonderful array of animals - Grevy's zebra, giraffe and the blue-legged Somali ostrich. Dinner and two night stay in Samburu on the edge of the Uaso Nyiro River.

Day 4

Samburu Game Reserve.

Wake up early for a unique game drive to see wildlife in the pale early morning light, before enjoying breakfast at the lodge. The morning is free and enjoy the facilities of the lodge, such as walking with guides, raft trips, or relaxing by the pool. Enjoy another game drive in the evening.

Day 5

Samburu Game Reserve - Aberdare National Park.

After an early start and delicious breakfast, you head to the Aberdare National Park for lunch at the Outspan Hotel, a country hotel set on the fringes of the National Park (180km - approx 4 hours). From here, you travel with an overnight bag (your luggage will be stored for you at the Outspan Hotel for collection the following day). Continue to the famous Treetops Lodge, one of the original safari lodges where Queen Elizabeth II learnt of her succession to the throne, for an overnight stay. Treetops has recently undergone a refurbishment and guest rooms are now ensuite and have improved size and views. Guests can also enjoy the new menu and dining experience.

Day 6

Aberdare National Park - Lake Nakuru.

Transfer back to the Outspan Hotel for breakfast then travel to Lake Nakuru, an alkaline lake set in the Great Rift Valley (180 km - approx 4 hours). The flora attracts an impressively large number of flamingos, providing wonderful photo opportunities. Arrive at the lodge set in the heart of the National Park, in time for lunch. Enjoy a late afternoon game drive, dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 7

Lake Nakuru - Masai Mara.

Enjoy an early breakfast before travelling to Masai Mara Game Reserve - one of the best known and most popular reserves in Africa (320kms - 6 hours). Go on an afternoon game drive where you get the chance to see one of the many species of animals on the plains of the Masai Mara, then head to the lodge for a two night stay. Expect to see elephants and buffalo on the perimeter of the grounds. As the lodge is set in the path of migrating wildebeest you will be surrounded by wildlife at peak times which is an amazing sight to behold.

Day 8

Masai Mara.

Early morning game drive, and then go back to the lodge for a delicious breakfast. The Masai Mara was Kenya's first wildlife sanctuary, and your time here is devoted to spending as much time as possible in the park viewing the incredible game in the area. Enjoy a game drive in the evening before spending another relaxing night at the lodge.

Day 9

Masai Mara - Nairobi.

After an enjoyable breakfast return to Nairobi for your flight back to the UK or for your domestic flight to Mombasa and your chosen beach hotel (300 km - 5 hours). A safari Club lounge will be available whilst waiting for flight connections.

This safari can be booked as a single centre or combined with a 7 night stay at one of the beach hotels in Mombasa. 21 night prices are available on request. Single rooms are available. NB No children under 7 years permitted on this safari
