Addu Atoll : Holiday Accommodation
The southern-most atoll in the Maldives, heart-shaped Addu Atoll has a very different feel, compared to the rest of the country. All of the 23 islands in Addu Atoll are connected via a series of causeways. This means that from Equator Village you can cycle to three inhabited islands, making it the only resort in the whole country where you have such incredible access and freedom. With 28,000 people spread out over seven inhabited islands, Addu Atoll is comparable only to the capital of Malé in size and importance, however there is an independent streak in the Addu folk and they even speak differently from the people of Malé
Rather than for a traditional beach holiday, most people book a holiday to Maldives Atolls for the incredible diving, which provides the opportunity to explore sunken warships and all the usual amazing flora and fauna. As well as for its extensive marine life and captivating coral reef, a holiday to Addu Atoll is the place to go to see some incredible sunsets. For those seeking culture, the Atoll is also home to local communities where you can learn more about the Maldivian way of life. As with holidays to Noonu Atoll and Meemu Atoll, snorkelling and scuba-diving are the most obvious activities on an Addu Atoll holiday, and are the best way to fully appreciate the area’s exotic marine life. Glass-bottomed boat tours are also on offer for those wishing to admire the colourful fish without getting wet. Intimate sunset dining on one of the many beautiful beaches can make for an unforgettable experience, as can observing the traditional island dancers performing in the local villages.
