2008 News Archive - Holidays - A life in Majorca for retiring boxer
10 03 2008
After spending years in the ring, one British boxer has his heart set firmly on the beaches of Majorca.
Matty Hough of Walsall is considering retiring after a long career and is looking at relocating to the sunny Spanish island.
He came to the decision after losing a title fight to Birmingham's Max Maxwell in Wolverhampton Civic Hall last month.
Claiming the belt would have been the crowning moment of the 31-year-old's career, but it wasn't to be - and now Hough's thoughts are with Majorca.
"I'm going to live in Majorca," he told BritishBoxing.net.
"But I'll be gutted all my life having got this far and not been switched on on the night of the title fight."
Hough won't be the first boxer to fall in love with Majorca. Former champ Nigel Benn now works as a preacher at a church on the island, according to the Times.
