2008 News Archive - Holidays - Beach spots top for 2007

08 01 2007

The Christmas decorations may be barely back in their boxes but already numerous Britons will be thinking about where to go for their summer holiday.

And after a mild, but still gloomy, winter in the UK no doubt plenty of people will be looking for some sun, sea and sand this season.

And there are a number of places offering relaxing beach holidays making up this year's top ten destinations, according to a survey from Expedia.

It would appear that holidaymakers are likely to become more adventurous this year, seeking their week in the sun further afield.

Bulgaria, with its balmy Black Sea Coast boasting 130 kilometres of beaches is set to prove popular with sunseekers this year according to the poll, as is Croatia's island-dotted Adratic coast.

For those planning to paddle even further than eastern Europe this summer, Cape Town is also tipped by the survey to be a holiday hotspot this year.

Recently host to Jude Law, Sadie Frost and their children, Cape Town offers lush green scenery and miles of stunning coastline.

Beaches such as Clifton and Llandudno offer soft enough sand and blue enough seas for even the most well-travelled beach-comber, while its Atlantic position keeps the temperature cool enough for comfort.
