2008 News Archive - Holidays - Big names back Kenyan tourism

09 06 2008

Following supermodel Naomi Campbell's endorsement of Kenya as a hot holiday destination earlier this year, a number of other well known characters have chosen to add their support.

President Mwai Kibaki recently travelled to Japan to campaign on behalf of Kenyan tourism where, according to Business Daily, he described the country as boasting "enormous" tourist resources including wildlife, "unique" landscapes and "diverse" cultures.

Indeed, the Kenyan premier declared Kenya to be an "unequalled tourist attraction".

Meanwhile, Coastweek reports that Vera Hassler, who sings under the stage name Mama Sizo, is currently recording a music video which features a holidaymaker relaxing on a break in the country, with a backdrop of popular tourist attractions the Masai Mara and Mount Kenya.

In May, president of Virgin Atlantic Airways Sir Richard Branson declared that "there has never been a better time to visit Kenya than right now".

He also noted that in 2007, Kenya recorded its highest ever number or visitors at over two million tourists.
