2008 News Archive - Holidays - Brits 'dream of active holidays'

02 09 2008

Forget beach holidays and lounging around in the sun, Britons dream of climbing mountains and taking part in "extreme" sports, a new survey has revealed.

A recent study by Cater Allen Private Bank found that British holidaymakers are "adrenaline junkies" who enjoy nothing more than participating in activities while abroad.

The most popular holiday activities include trekking, scuba diving, wind surfing, sailing and snowboarding.

Furthermore, the study revealed that 26 per cent of Brits dream of exploring somewhere "off the beaten track", with ten per cent of people hoping to take a safari holiday in the future.

Commenting on the study, Richard Dunn, managing director of the bank, said that the research suggested that people were moving away from traditional beach holidays and were becoming more "adventurous" in their choices.

Meanwhile, a survey carried out by Cater Allen earlier this month found that 43 per cent of people use holidays to maintain their mental wellbeing.
