2008 News Archive - Holidays - Brits head abroad to escape credit crunch gloom

16 12 2008

With the UK's current economic climate bringing the doom and gloom of the credit crunch, a new survey has revealed that many Brits are choosing to head off to sunnier climes to beat the winter blues.

The survey, conducted by Kayak.co.uk, found that nearly half of people in the UK are planning a trip abroad over the festive season, with 63 per cent saying they would be heading off from December 22nd to make the most of the holiday season.

One-fifth of those taking a holiday said they would be flying in the face of the prevailing economic winds by catching a flight to their winter sun destination of choice, with the Caribbean being rated one of the most popular destinations.

Earlier this week, a poll by Adfero found that most people do not think the recession will affect their holiday plans.
