2008 News Archive - Holidays - Brits "hope" for surprise breaks

12 02 2008

British romantics are hoping that their other halves will whisk them away for a romantic break this February.

PayPal reports that while 74 per cent of Brits expect to receive a Valentine's Day card from their partner, 27 per cent hope that in actuality they will be surprised with a weekend away.

Meanwhile, 69 per cent of hopeful singletons expect to receive a card on February 14th with an additional 54 per cent anticipating a floral display of affection from an admirer.

"To make this February 14th really special, wannabe romantics should heed the warning and make sure they spend time with the person they love, or they could end up getting the cold shoulder on the day of romance," commented Cristina Hoole, spokesperson for PayPal.

She added that Britons are "hopeless" romantics at heart.

Meanwhile, for older lovers, Bupa recently revealed that roses, carnations and daffodils are the top three flowers to give to a loved one.
