2008 News Archive - Holidays - Brits 'not bothered by climate change'

British holidaymakers are unlikely to consider taking breaks closer to home due to worries about the state of the environment, it has been reported.

A study by YouGov in conjunction with Celtic Castles revealed that concerns over costs take priority over concerns about carbon footprints when selecting a holiday for 43 per cent of Britons.

According to the study, a total 23 per cent of Brits aged 18-24 stated that their carbon footprint was the least of their concerns when booking a break.

Cultural attractions took top place when choosing a holiday destination for 17 per cent of men and 14 per cent women in the study.

"There is no doubt that most consider quality, affordability and culture to be important when booking their break," Roger Masterson founder of Celtic Castles commented.

Other top considerations included tranquillity and the weather, according to the study.
