2008 News Archive - Holidays - Brits prepared to 'spend big' on holidays

09 09 2008

British consumers are still prepared to spend large amounts on holidays, despite the credit crunch.

A new poll has revealed that 35 per cent of Britons spend between £500 and £1,000 on their annual holiday.

Furthermore, the research – carried out by Holiday Extras – found that 32 per cent of people spend under £500, while 20 per cent of Brits regularly shell out over £1,000.

Mike Whiting, managing editor of the company, claimed that holidays were an investment and left people feeling revitalised, de-stressed and ready to take "anything life has to throw at you".

"These results show that no matter what the economy is like holidays are very important to people in the UK and they are prepared to invest their hard earned money in them," he added.

Meanwhile, the Evening Standard last week reported that 2009 holiday bookings are "soaring", with Brits keen to escape the miserable weather.
