2008 News Archive - Holidays - Celebrate Chinese New Year in Hong Kong

19 06 2007

If you're going to celebrate Chinese New Year, there is only one place to do it – Hong Kong.

Asia's most dynamic city knows how to throw a party and Chinese New Year, from February 7th to the 21st, is one of the biggest holidays on the Chinese calendar.

The main event will be the Chinese New Year's parade, complete with the famous dragon dancers and a procession of the most colourful and vibrant floats one is ever likely to see.

Street entertainers, hectic music and dancing will accompany the parade along Hong Kong's famous waterfront.

The city's numerous majestic skyscrapers will be decked out in colourful, swirling lights for the event and the fireworks show over Victoria Harbour is widely regarded as one of the finest in the world.

To complement the lights and fireworks, the city also puts on a range of flower displays that rival the city's neon signs for brightness and variety.
