2008 News Archive - Holidays - Celebrate music in Florence

19 06 2007

It is almost time for the Sesto d'Estate in Florence, this beautiful Italian city's biggest music festival of the summer, which takes place in late June and July.

Those attending will be wowed by the beautiful setting of the shows, the gardens of the Villa Solaria, which are over 500 years old.

This year's line-up includes Alice Cooper, Funk Off Icognito and the world-famous Franco Battiato.

Lying on the picturesque Arno River, Florence is considered to be one of the most beautiful cities in the world and is a centre of arts and culture.

Indeed, the centre of Florence has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site due to its age and beauty.

As the centre of the Renaissance, Florence was the site of literary, artistic and scientific innovation, the likes of which has never been duplicated.

The city's cathedral, the Santa Maria del Fiore, is definitely worth a visit, as is the Duomo.
