2008 News Archive - Holidays - Christmas without the cold

22 10 2007

Holidaymakers heading to Florida in December will be able to see exactly how to celebrate Christmas without snow or cold weather.

Cities across the Sunshine State stage free events to put people in the festive mood, but they look very different to the parties Brits are used to.

On December 8th Kissimmee holds its free Holiday Extravaganza, which will see the city's Lakefront Park host bands and street performers, as well as a 20-tonne snow pile known as Frosty's Playground to keep the children occupied.

A week later, Fort Lauderdale's 36th Annual Boat Parade will see the city's waterways given a festive makeover to welcome the 100 decorated craft taking part.

This year's theme is magical movie moments and alongside the imaginative recreations of classic films, spectators can expect to see a sprinkling of genuine celebrities adding a touch of glamour to the occasion.

People taking a Fly Drive holiday in Florida in December will also have the opportunity to take in the state's major tourist attractions, such as Busch Gardens and Walt Disney World, as well as soaking up some of the region's famous winter sunshine.
