2008 News Archive - Holidays - Couple survive fall off cruise ship

26 03 2007

A couple who were enjoying a cruise in the beautiful Gulf of Mexico have survived an accidental fall off their balcony into the sea.

Both the 20-year-old man and the 22-year-old woman were rescued unharmed after a four-hour search.

The couple fell from Princess Cruise's Grand Princess, which was cruising approximately 150 miles off the coast of Texas at the time.

Julie Benson, spokeswoman for Princess Cruises said: "They appear to be in satisfactory condition and we hope that no further medical attention will be needed."

The two passengers will be able to either get off on the next stop, or continue their trip to the town of Costa Maya, on the coast of Mexico.

Mexico is currently one of the world's hottest cruising destinations, despite the damage incurred by Hurricane Wilma recently.

Its azure-blue water, white beaches and friendly inhabitants have resulted in Mexico being a favoured destination for years.
