2008 News Archive - Holidays - Croatia 'is Mediterranean favourite'
21 12 2007
It has been claimed that Croatia is most likely the leading Mediterranean tourist destination.
According to Paul Keppler, managing director for Croatiasun.com, tourism levels in Croatia are "increasing dramatically".
He also noted that they are approaching the levels they had in the 1980s when the country was said to rival the Costa del Sol as a holiday location.
"It's made great progress over the last ten years, increasing dramatically in the tourism levels here. It's probably emerged again as the leading tourist destination in the Mediterranean," Mr Keppler added.
The comment comes after hvarestatescroatia.com reported Croat Bureau of Statistics figures which show that 6.8 million tourists came to Croatia in the first nine months of 2007.
According to the bureau this is an increase of ten per cent on the corresponding period for 2006.
