Turkey could be the latest target for foodies looking to engage in culinary tourism, after it was reported that a new "highlight" has been added to the restaurant scene.

The Gaja Roof Restaurant is located in Istanbul and could be an attraction to those taking day trips to the city during their holidays in Turkey.

Situated on the 16th floor of Swissotel The Bosphorus, Scottish chef Dominic Jack serves such dishes as goose liver terrine, organic chicken and seafood lasagne to patrons of the restaurant.

It was recently reported by the Association of British Travel Agents (Abta) that the European countries of Italy, France and Spain are popular among people who are looking for a "gourmet experience".

"People are very interested to find out what [the food] is like in these destinations," Frances Tuke, a spokesperson for Abta commented.
