2008 News Archive - Holidays - Cultural city breaks 'popular' for families

08 02 2008

Parents are increasingly opting to immerse their children in culture on a city break rather than take them on a beach holiday, it has been claimed.

According to Kirker Holidays, there has been a "significant" increase in the number of families choosing such city breaks.

The news comes after research from travel insurance provider Insure & Go last year discovered that UK families spent an average of £837 on their summer holiday in 2007.

"We have noticed a significant increase in the number of families that are looking for holidays with a cultural twist," commented Ted Wake, director of sales and marketing for Kirker Holidays.

He added that it is easier for families with two parents working to spend quality time together on a short weekend break.

Mr Wake concluded that the room configuration that may work best on such a holiday is a double room connecting with a twin room.
