Egypt's seaside resort of El Gouna, on the Red Sea coast that is also home to Sharm El Sheikh, has continued to attract British holidaymakers in 2007, it has been reported.
According to the tourist destination, British travellers now account for one in ten arrivals, representing a six per cent increase in UK arrivals.
However, more Egyptians also chose to visit the region in 2007, knocking Britain out of 3rd place for guest night production making the UK the resort's fourth largest source market.
"This is a slight change from 2006 when the UK held 3rd place for guest night production but the change is due to an increase in domestic tourism," El Gouna revealed.
El Gouna also claims to be "increasingly developing" popularity with the international community, attracting more visitors from a wider range of nations.
The study also showed that the most popular months to travel were March, April, August, September, October and November.
