2008 News Archive - Holidays - Exhibitions at the Arktikum in Lapland

14 08 2008

Visitors to Lapland should take time out of their holidays to visit the Arktikum in Rovaniemi.

Current exhibitions taking place include Northern Ways, The Arctic in Change, Tourism Arrives in the Village and Shimmer of the Pearl.

Northern Ways is a permanent exhibition which offers a "unique insight" into indigenous residents of the region's way of life as well as the culture and history of the north.

Visitors can learn more about the lifestyles, livelihoods and culture of local dwellers as well as animal life in the Arctic.

Northern Ways also examines the mythology of nature and animals in Lapland while The Arctic in Change focuses on the human and seasonal cycles in the Arctic.

Tourism Arrives in the Village and Shimmer of the Pearl are both temporary exhibitions lasting until late August and examine sustainable tourism and the "fascinating world" of the freshwater pearl mussel.
