2008 News Archive - Holidays - Exotic locations provide honeymoon heaven

10 07 2007

Research performed by Confetti, the wedding specialist, has found that honeymoons are no longer the most expensive part of a wedding, even though romantic destinations are becoming more exotic.

Carol Richardson, public relations manager for Confetti, explains that some newlyweds still prefer more traditional European honeymoons in Mediterranean countries, while others are looking further away to the far east. She cites Mauritius and Cyprus as two popular destinations.

"People are travelling more anyway these days, despite the carbon footprint fears. And for stag and hen weekends people are certainly travelling further," she adds.

The average cost of a honeymoon is now £2,500 to £3,000, according to Ms Richardson, while a survey conducted by CreditExpert found people in Britain are now spending around £386 attending the wedding of a loved one. In a breakdown of expenses, £130 was the typical spend by attendees of a stag or hen party.

Confetti helps 500,000 people plan their weddings each month.
