2008 News Archive - Holidays - Families could save 'thousands' by booking early

01 09 2008

Consumers could save thousands of pounds by booking their holidays in advance, a new survey has revealed.

A study carried out by consumer magazine Which? found that families could save over £1,000 by booking their annual holiday a year in advance.

Magazine researchers tracked the cost of three Majorca holidays over the course of a year and found that in most cases families saved money by booking as far in advance as possible.

Commenting on the findings, Which? holiday editor Lorna Cowan said: "For families wanting to get away next summer with specific destinations in mind, we recommend booking in the next month or so to avoid disappointment when it comes to availability and cost."

The magazine also warned that tour operators may cut capacity on some holidays in 2009 and said that it would be in the interests of families to book early.

Meanwhile, a recent study carried out by Abbey revealed that the average Briton spends around ten per cent of their income on holidays.
