2008 News Archive - Holidays - Flights to Turkey to be launched from Birmingham

05 12 2008

Tourists looking to escape the hectic Christmas season by soaking up a bit of winter sun in Turkey could find their journeys made easier, after Turkish Airlines announced the launch of direct flights from Birmingham.

The regional airport, which is easily accessible by train, will now host five weekly flights to Istanbul and Ankara.

According to Turkish Airlines the new routes will begin operating from December 15th, which could be just in time for families looking to avoid the cold and wet of Christmas in the UK.

Turkish Airlines will also be operating cheap flights from Birmingham to Turkey's third city, Izmir, which is a convenient jumping off point for the holiday resorts on Turkey's celebrated Aegean coast.

UK tourists may find that holidays to Turkey are not only becoming more convenient but also less expensive.

The Post Office revealed that the Turkish lira had fallen by 22 per cent against the pound in recent months, meaning that day to day costs could be much cheaper for UK families.
