2008 News Archive - Holidays - Flying kites in South Africa

17 08 2007

Helping to raise funds for the Cape Mental Health organisation, the Cape Town International Kite Festival offers spectacular shows and live entertainment.

On October 20th and 21st 2007, teams from across the world descend on the Muizenberg area to fly enormous kites and provide kite-making workshops for children.

While the event aims to promote a healthy lifestyle, children participating in the Edukite Schools' competition have the opportunity to showcase their own flying creations.

Visitors to the festival can also take in live entertainment, as well as food, crafts and clothing stalls.

While in Cape Town, holidaymakers have the chance to enjoy fine food and wine, while also taking in the region's spectacular natural beauty.

Meanwhile, those looking to enjoy the odd game of golf are likely to be spoilt for choice, with the city boasting 16 18-hole courses and a number of nine-hole courses and driving ranges.
