2008 News Archive - Holidays - Footballer chooses Dubai

04 06 2008

Former Liverpool and Manchester City striker Robbie Fowler chose to engage in some informal contract negotiations while on holiday in Dubai.

The South Wales Echo reports that Fowler, who endured an injury-plagued season at FA Cup finalists Cardiff City, met with the club's chairman Peter Ridsdale by chance.

According to the newspaper, the pair decided to take a break from relaxing on holiday to discuss next season.

Ridsdale, formally chairman of Leeds United and Barnsley, told the newspaper: "I was in the bar on only my second day at the hotel and I just bumped into Robbie. Obviously we talked about his future."

Dubai is becoming an increasingly popular tourist destination, with many celebrities choosing to holiday there.

Actor Brad Pitt has gone one step further by working with a team of designers to develop a five-star hotel in the region, reports Reuters.

Formula One star Michael Schumacher and tennis player Boris Becker have also been linked to property projects in the Middle East.
