2008 News Archive - Holidays - Greek sun served on the rocks

02 07 2007

With large parts of the UK subject to unseasonably cold and rainy weather this summer, the time might be perfect to arrange a last minute holiday to somewhere sunnier.

Britons booking a last minute holiday to Greece this July are in for a double treat, with one of the country's most significant cultural festivals set to take place in the outdoor Theatre of the Rock Melina Merkouri.

Drama groups from all over the country are set to perform at the spectacular open-air venue in the yearly Festival in the Shadow of the Rocks.

The actors bring ancient Greek tragedy and comedy to the stage alongside more modern and contemporary performances in the beautiful venue.

Greece, with its close proximity to the UK, has long been a popular destination for Britons looking for a last minute holiday break.

The country boasts some 2,000 islands and countless pristine beaches.

With summers being dry and hot, sunseekers looking to escape drizzly Britain could do well to book a last minute holiday break to the Mediterranean country.
