2008 News Archive - Holidays - Hallelujah Alicante

11 10 2007

Spain is often the preferred holiday hideaway for Brits escaping the winter blues of wet and windy weather and Alicante is a sure-fire destination for good fun.

What’s more, the town holds one of its most important festivals in December - a definite date for the diary - as an air of merriment is sure to be felt.

The Moors and Christians festival is held in Alicante on December 6th, Whatsonwhen reports. And what could be better than helping the locals celebrate the day by joining in the festivities.

Plenty of food and drink must be consumed after the religious and historical connotations have been celebrated, so visitors should be prepared to ravish a feast of fine Spanish fare.

Different parts of the town remember the coming of the Moors and the Christians at different times of the year, but the December celebration could be the best event to witness with a big parade promised in the evening.

Alicante is located in the Costa Brava region of Spain.
